Our Belief

Our faith is rooted in the Scriptures, the inspired and inerrant Word of God, connected to the ancient catholic church and inherited from the Reformed tradition. We affirm the historic creeds: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicaean Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, as ecumenical expressions of the Christian faith; and subscribe to the Westminster Standards: the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger Catechism, and the Westminster Shorter Catechism. We also hold in high esteem the Three Forms of Unity: the Belgic Confession (1561), the Heidelberg Catechism (1563), and the Canons of Dort (1619).

Our affirmation of the historic creeds, as ecumenical expressions of the Christian faith, is an expression of our solidarity with the Christian Church worldwide and throughout the ages. Our subscribing to the Westminster Standards and to the Three Forms of Unity shows our assent to the spirit of the Reformation and to the Reformed expression of the Christian faith: the authority and inerrancy of Scripture alone (2 Timothy 3:16); salvation by God’s grace alone, through faith alone as the instrumental cause (Ephesians 2:8-10); of Christ alone being the basis of our redemption (John 14:6); and giving glory to God alone in worship and daily living (1 Corinthians 10:31).
