History of GCEC

Grace Covenant Evangelical Church (GCEC) started as a small group of individuals who came from various church backgrounds but who all shared a common faith in the risen Jesus Christ as the only true Savior. This small group observed the Sabbath by gathering at a designated home, studying the Word of God, being reminded of sin and its consequences. The sermons stressed the need for a perfect sacrifice, which was Jesus Christ, the glory of His resurrection, and repentance and faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.

In 2012, the Church moved to a house in Ragang Street, Quezon City, which served as the main worship venue for the next nine years. It was there that the name, First Grace Covenant Evangelical Church, was conceived and registered. The name aptly describes the belief of the church, that salvation is all by God’s grace or favor, and covenant is the theological framework to which the church subscribes. The word evangelical places emphasis on the essence of the gospel, which is the good news to preached to all. The Church Dedication was held in 2014 and was presided over by Rev. Michael Brown. The Dedication was a renewing of the Church’s commitment to the Reformed tradition and theology, adhering to a confessional foundation, and maintaining a Presbyterian form of church polity.

On June 25, 2017, the Church ordained two ruling elders; and along with its teaching elders, the Church has continued its weekly expository preaching and careful study of creeds and doctrines, observing the Lord’s Table, with various other weekly ministries.

In 2021, by the Grace of God Our Provider, the Church purchased a modest property located at San Pedro Bautista Street, also in Quezon City, which has since been renovated to accommodate the growing congregation, and where the church continues to abide by her mission statement of “reaching the lost, teaching the found.”

In April of 2016, the Church initiated and convened an Ordination Council; and on August 28, 2016, in an Ordination Ceremony with Dr. Iain Duguid as special guest speaker, Pr. Dennis Eric Ohsan was formally ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacraments. In May of 2023, Reverend Ohsan formally answered the call to devote full time pastoral duties to GCEC and was installed as Pastor on June 18 of the same year.
